claw marks!!!

man..... ive tried to keep my car immaculate for as long as possible... now i have claw marks on the paint! :upset:

my dog got loose somehow. tracked him down and picked him up. put him in the back seat with the window 3/4 down.... and the darn dog decides to JUMP OUT THE WINDOW! leaving my poor poor Runner with lovely claw scratches on the rear, driver-side door. *OUCH!*:dammit:

ive tried anything i had to get it out...Mother's Clay Bar, Meguires scratchX.... but nothing. thats what i get for having a black runner.

any suggestions? please help!!:help:

Maybe some touch-up paint.

It would really depend on how deap the scrathes are. If they aren't through the paint, you should be able to polish them out. If they are deap, you might want to contact your dealership and find out who does their touchup work. Most dealerships have guys that come around and touch up paint. i have a scratch on mine and did the exact same thing.

Chances are that the scratches have gone too deep into the paint. If you can feel the scratches with your fingernail, they're too deep. Like momo said, you'll have to get them touched up.

there is a chance the scratches could be deep, but not through to the primer coat. If this is the case, you or somebody else, could wet sand the scratch to blend it in, but if you have never tried it or seen it done, I would let somebody else do it. You have to lightly sand it, then polish, then wax. It takes a little skill to blend it in but a lot of balls to put that sand paper down the first time.

thanks for the suggestion everyone. and im sorry that i cant put a decent photo of the scratches up. ive been trying to take some with my digital but since the runner is black its just reflecting everything that in the background and you cant even see the scratches. (yes, i have been turning off the flash and trying different angles)

i tested out how deep they are. they dont even penetrate the clearcoat. and doesnt even touch the paint itself because it is still quite smooth to the touch. which is probably why they dont show up in pictures.

how about a good compound. and then good wax. If they are not that deep like it sounds. have you tried anything yet?.

Just a thought Did you try a "search" on car wax I have read alot about guys and the type of wax they use, alot of guys really know there stuff on here about wax.

You also might try calling Griot's or Zaino's to see if they have a product that would work. The hassle and time saved in not having to search for it may offset the cost of the product.
