Check engine light reads too lean bank 1. Suspect dirty MAF. I have the spray and was curious if it is safe to clean with cu-tip. Starting the short project now.

make sure to actually pull it out, dont just spray it in the intake. I used alochol and q-tips to clean mine.

P.O. rounded off screws. lol, hows that happen? It goes into plastic Air filter housing. Ok so, I couldn't get one screw out. I may grab the new one if this doesn't work. It was amber before I cleaned. I sprayed down where the other ones are with the straw that came with the cleaner since I couldn't get it out. How much cleaner should I use? I used almost half a can. Going to let it dry for an hour and reassemble. Working on unplugging door ajar switches now, lol.

Buy yourself some Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner at your local auto parts store. I don't know if I'd put a q-tip in there because you may damage the wires.

Yea thats pretty much what I did just didn't remove the MAF from the housing, but I took the entire airfilter housing and MAF out of the engine bay (3-13mm bolts).

Yea mine came amber with spray only and used dental mirrors to check in hole since I couldn't get the sensor out. I started the day with a reset ECU. Stumbled a lot but eventually the 4runner caught on and ran great for 15 miles then the CEL light showed again. Next step I cleaned the MAF with the grey canned MAF cleaner and reset the ECU. I got 8miles and CEL showed again, getting a solid 15mpg up and down the hollows which seems the normal for these vehicles, but I want the CEL gone. :uzi:
