Clean spot on knuckle/spindle

I just had my tires replaced and went up a size.

I now have Nitto Terra Grapplers G2s on 265/70/17.

I haven’t had my tires off before but I took them off and saw a very clean spot
on the vertical portion of my spindle. It’s a raised bump.

I’m hoping it is because there is too much negative camber and it’ll go away with an alignment.

Have any of you had this happen?

If your tire was truly rubbing it it would be shiny. Maybe it just touched it when taking it off.

The spindle and the hub assembly moves together so any alignment issues wouldnt affect it right?

My 285 duratracs barely rubbed there with stock wheels enough so that I couldnt install them, had to get aftermarket wheels.

Have you put the tires back on to see how close they are?

If the new tire is rubbing there you should see telltale signs of the rubbing on the tire itself, is there?

I don’t see any rubbing but I’ve only put about 100 Miles on them.

Probably rubbing when the suspension cycles. With 285's my stock wgeels wouldn't even bolt back on.

Do you mean tire deflection? Other than that I don't see the cycling of the suspension causing the issue because the spindle and tire don't every move in relation to eachother.
[MENTION=176539]Jhayes[/MENTION]: does the other side have the same clean bump? Maybe your tire guy rubbed it off out of curiosity.

Both sides have the same clean spot.
That also concerned me.
Both sides. Same bump on the spindle is the only clean area.

I don’t see why the tire shop would have cleaned both sides off.

I’m stumped.

I found this thread. Same issue. I wonder if he solved it.
I don’t see that wear on my tire though. But the tires have only about 100 Miles on them. I’m considering grinding that high spot off.
