Clean windows?

Stupid question, I know, but what do you all use to clean the inside of your 4R windows? Seems like everything I try using streaks. You know, Windex, that sort of stuff. It all streaks. Drives me nuts. Thanks to all.

Ya the Windex household type stuff just doesn't cut it for automotive use.

Go to the automotive section in a parts store, or just Wal-Mart and they will have automotive glass cleaner. Foam type cleaners in arasol (sp?) spray cans are generally the easiest to use - spray on and wipe off with paper towel.

If I'm waxing my truck, I usually go over all the side windows with the wax as well just to save time.

Re: Re: Clean windows?

I just use the foaming cleaner... then after that... I do a quick wipe with a clean towel. Guaranteed to leave it mmm mmm clean.

Most important is not the cleaner but your wiping rag. If you are using paper towels then that is a major problem. Use anything but paper towels. I use Windex and polypropylene shop towels.

We used automotive glass cleaner and paper towel in our detail shop to clean glass for the last 5 years....it works great, just don't use Windex.

Terry towels work as well.

Ok, there are a million ways to do this obviously, but there's no need to make it confusing.

Automotive glass cleaner + Paper towel works. Period!

I've used this combination on literally THOUSANDS of vehicles, 98% of which people were paying to have cleaned, and it worked.....everytime :)

But if I don't use paper towels then I can use any glass cleaner, such as Windex.

Paper towels are said to contain glue to bind the paper fibers and this glue is what causes streaks.

It's important to use something that will not damage the dashboard or to carefully cover the dash as well - several people have managed to get Windex on their dash and it appears to mark the particular kind of plastic used there.

best way to clean window is with a old CLEAN t- shirt! spray some windex on the glass or on the t shirt if you don't want the windex all over your dash and wipe in a circle motion! you can wipe Side to side but alway finish with a circle motion. also best way to see if glass is clean is to look at is from the side and not straight forward.

also the rag or shit that you use to wipe off wax off your car is the best thing to clean mirror and glass too!. especially thing that attract dusk alot like tv screen. I use it inside my house on all my mirror and glass tv screen. it will keep the mirror and TV screen clean and dust free for for weeks!!

Already you're getting a lot of different answers. My method that works for me is:

1. Eagle One 20/20 auto glass cleaner.

2. WW microfiber cloth.

Do use stuff like WINDEX that has ammonia in it on tinted windows.

Like alot of people have said.. go out and buy "automotive glass cleaner". It works and it's simple.

SPRAY and WIPE. SPRAY and WIPE. :D

Microfiber Cloth

I used to use glass cleaner and cloth rags (old ZT-Shirt usually) but a microfiber towel works awesome. Elbow grease and the fiber towel, removes everything and it takes months for the interior glass haze to come back. No streaks ever. The interior rarely fogs up , even in humid rainy weather. There's nothing for the moisture to attatch too.

I've had a bit of luck with the windex wipes. They are like baby wipes for your windows. I haven't had any streaking or fibers laft on the windows.
