Cleaned the Throttle Body, sort of?

The reason I say "sort of" is because I feel that I'm not doing much unless I get behind the plate. Is there a way to do that? The instructions on the spray I used says to spray, then re-attach the intake and rev the engine so the spray can be sent through the throttle body. I did not try this method, personally. Has anyone else tried this or something different?

So far I haven't driven the 4Runner after cleaning the TB.

Remove throttle body from you intake plenum and clean the backside with TB cleaner and a good dish brush. 4 bolts and one Electrical connector. Be very carful with the clip. Use a small screwdriver to lift the clip over the not h. No rags. You don't want the small fibers inside your motor.

That does help thank you. Since my truck isn't lacking performance, I'll push it off till Spring. I was just doing a quick tune up. Would I need to replace any gaskets? I tried looking for a write up for this process on the V8 and I only found some for 3rd gens, in which they did have to replace a rubber gasket before replacing.

I would say that you do not need to replace the gasket unless it looks damaged ie cracked, dry and brittle or pinched in any places. It's a rubber O ring style that sets inside a groove. Mine stayed in the groove so I had no worries not replacing it. If yours pulls out of the groove and does not re seat perfectly I would consider replacement.

I actually thought about that, didn't know if that actually works without the engine running.

It's rather simple. You do not need to turn the key on or mash the gas, just rotate the flap and there ya go. It's so easy, even a cave man could do it.

I've read that pushing the flap open can damage it so I did not even try that. Thanks for the tips.

It only opens one way. Do not force it. Go slow. You will feel resistance from the electric motor.
