Cleaning/Preping Used Oil Pan

I know this is probably a dumb question, but what's that best way to clean up a used oil pan for reuse? Exterior is the dirtiest, so was planning on putting some steel wool and degreaser to it then repainting it. Interior and seal area is in good shape, just some minimal surface rust from being in storage. What to do on the inside and seal area? Steel wool then put a coat of oil on it until its time to reinstall?

brake cleaner or paint thinner and wire brush clean it well and spray bomb. use a brass wire brush in the gasket area then finish with a scotch brite pad.
