Cleaning the Cabin Air Filter

Bought my 07 T4R about 3 months ago and have not checked the cabin air filter.

My wife typically takes our T4R to her work, which is about a ten minute drive on gravel. I had the heat pumpin' last week (-50 celcius with the windchill) and could smell some dust in the cabin.

So, that being said, time to check this air filter (now that it's warmer!) and see what's shakin. Any tips/advice on how to do this?

Is it really that simple?

Any suggestions on how to actually clean the filter, or do you need to replace it.

Can you wash it with warm water and soap, or hit it with some high air pressure?

buy an ac filter from homedepot & cut it , you'll get 4 filters out of it.

O'Reilly Auto Parts sells a direct replacement for 7.99. I buy them two at a time and change it every 6 months.

Make sure you follow step one to the "T". Remove the screw and physically separate the valve from the glovebox before pulling it down - otherwise you risk damage to the plastic TOP support where the little valve connects to - and that seems like part of the dash.

Yeah using filters made for home systems cut into 4 car sized filters really is the best way to go.

If you want to get a little more life out of your filter then you can blow a lot of the junk out using an air compressor... build up the pressure to a solid 150 psi or so and let it fly. Just make sure to do it outside. I do the same thing to my car air filters as well... only once about half way through their normal life span.

Take yours out of your car, measure it, and then go to Wally World.....or wherever and do the math.

You are going to be really surprised of what will be in your old filter......YUK
