I too am fairly new at the whole off-roading scene, but found the group of people here to be very helpful. A stock 4runner is a very capable rig, I think the only main issue you might have is clearance over traction due to the a-trac system. The main trail itself is nothing more than just a dirt road, its the offshoots/side trails that made me want to go back and give myself more of a challenge and test my rig and I wanted to open the invite to anyone who was interested in joining me. I found Cleghorn interesting because it gave me the option to either take a hard route or an easy route. I suggest you guys watch cleghorn videos to give you and idea of what you're getting into.
i'll compile a list of the names that posted on this thread, there are a few more that probably wont be listed as some people are from instagram and family/friends of others that are going.

I believe Chris R. that took this video on Cleghorn trails is on stock; suspension, tires and in a TEP. We did more than a few challenging hill climbs. From what I remember he has years of off-road driving experience but I think if you just go slow you would be fine.

Yeah there are easy routes, I did this run with the big group a couple weekends ago.
I was on stock suspension.

shoot, we may need to break into groups, but if anyone on tw has experience with cleghorn or pilot rock I wouldn't mind at all. Is there anyone here that's planning on sticking with just the main road?

last meet we had about he same number of rigs and spit it into 3 groups.. 2 for the main trail, and 1 for the hard routes/off shoots, was thinking of doing something similar if anyone on here plans on not doing any of the difficult stuff at all.

CB radio came but don't think this could be installed by Sunday. Got a 4' antenna and I'm starting to think its too tall for the hood mount I got

Hi This was a very fun run and while I do have many years of experience of off roading I can say that the 4Runner even stock is more capable than many vehicles. I was so impressed as we went along this run on how well it did. I was a little worried about how the stock tires would do but they gripped the dirt just fine.
A few of the hills looked pretty hard core that the video doesn't show but I had no problem with traction at all. I did bottom out a few times and thought I might have scratched up my skid plates but after I got home I looked underneath my ride and there was not a scratch to be found.
Go there and have fun. I know I did. My wife who had never been 4wheeling enjoyed it more than I expected. She is ready to go again.

The firestik universal hood mount. I'm going to return everything and repurchase some better stuff.

New to the 4runner world and the forum. Hope to join all of you tomorrow for the Cleghorn Trail. Im in no rush but curious about duration so i can be prepared (food, water, gas?) How long does the trail usually take? Do you break for lunch, how long? Just eat on the go? Do you hang out on the trail(bring chairs?)Appreciate the help.:fish:

Good idea about returning it ...also do yourself a favor and don't get a hood mount at all. Damage will happen. Mount up on roof or rear area.
