Clicking sound from Driver's Seat

Hi All,

Can someone please shed some light on this issue? I have a clicking sound coming out of my new 4Runner's driver's seat. When I step out of the seat and move it, I can hear clicking sounds from the lower part of the seat. the other day at the Toyota dealershipthey said that Toyota knows about this issue and are working on a fix. however they don't have an ETA on it. Also, when I am in the seat and move slightly to adjust myself, it also makes a clicking sound. Any comments are highly appreciated.

Try doing a search on "seat rattle" this has been talked about before on here to some length, I have a 2nd gen so i had little intrest in the thread.

Maybe someone witha 4th gen will chime in.

I have a 1996 4 Runner that I bought new and it developed that same "clicking under the seat" problem (mine was the drivers seat only, and your description fit my problem to the tee). It was driving me crazy and I am sure since your 4 Runner is so new it is really giving you fits.

My problem was fixed by spraying the bolts that connect the seat to the floor of the vehicle with WD40. If that only corrects it for awhile then loosen the bolts, spray with WD-40, and tighten them back.

I believe a few months later I had to spray the bolts again, but I have been click free for years now.

Also, for my problem, the clicking seemed to be coming under the seat and not where I sprayed the WD-40 but doing that eliminated the clicking.

I sure hope this fixes your problem. Let me know if it does.
