I have a 2005 limited and the lcd screen below the navigation screen that shows temp and time is only half lit. It is cut directly in half, half lit and half not, does anyone know how or if I can replace that light? Also my buttons for a/c temp control etc, all of the buttons do not light up, they only light if one is in use? Does something need to be replaced there as well?? I bought it used and those buttons have not lit up since I got it. Thanks!

Very easy to do! Took me $25 and bout 30min. Search on here, there are a few threads on it. pop open the tray thingy under ac controls, lift it up and out, there is one bolt/screw there. take it out, then starting on the left side of the ac control panel, pull it away from the console, then pull the other side away, disconnect the harness, and replace the lights with a small screw driver, very easy!

This just happened tonight as I was trying to fix the shifter lever from being sloppy.. One problem I have figured out but can't seem to fix it, at least a light I can handle LOL!!

I'm about to attempt this myself. A couple of questions for those who have done this. First, is there a need to disconnect the car battery? I don't recall seeing that step mentioned in the tutorials. Second, is the use of dielectric grease recommended on the wiring harness and connector?

Nevermind, I answered my own questions...no and no. Turns out if you have a short enough standard screwdriver, you don't even need to unplug the wiring harness. The only tools needed are 1 philips head screwdriver for the bolt and a small standard screwdriver for the bulbs. Many thanks to those who provided information on this procedure.
