Climate control backlighting

I have looked through tons of threads here regarding the replacing of the HVAC lights. However, it seems to me that they all address the arrow/button lights. All of my arrows work just fine. The problem is the back lighting that illuminates the function. None of them light up anymore.

Has anyone had and fixed this situation?

If you are talking about the light(s) that light up the words "A/C, Temp Up, Temp Down, Auto", the fan speeds, and the vents they are super simple to replace. Follow the link in the previous post. I actually replaced one this weekend. The bulb cost $3.50 at the dealership, and took all of 5 minutes to replace. Good Luck

Its very straight forward friend. I replaced my HU last weekend following the link below took all but 5 minutes to get the ac controls out. Here is the link that I followed.

Thanks guys. I got 6 bulbs from Radio Shack, replaced the 3 that were out in 15 minutes. Now I have spares. Awesome.

I had my dash apart last summer and replaced all the lights with the Radio Shack bulbs. I got tired of two things:

1) Paying the dealer $3.50 - $5.00 a bulb

2) The bulbs never being in stock at the dealer and having to go back twice.

Are these orange like stock backlights? I've been thinking about changing all of them to white.

The bulbs are clear. There is a little green rubber nipple that goes over the bulb. I actually have no idea what makes them look orange when they are lit up.

I can confirm that they are indeed much less bright than the stock ones. I swapped out the one that went bad and the difference was quite drastic. If you swap one out, you must do the other one as well so they match. For me it was a problem because one of the two radio shack bulbs that came in the pack was DOA. I think I will go back to the shack and try to find something a little brighter. They have quite the selection.

I have a 2008 4Runner Limited V8 that I just bought. I swear the HVAV display is green... Everything else is red... weird.

Back light issue on climate controls

I have replaced climate control backlights and they still don't work. Any ideas? All indicator arrow lights work
