I've got a 2000 runner that has an issue with the auto climate control. it seems i have to short buttons to activate both the ac, manual/auto control, and the off functions.
If i want to turn the a/c on, i've got to hold the mode button down, and simultaneously press the a/c button. Same goes with all the other buttons listed above.
Does anybody know what could be shorted within the unit? I'm contemplating an attempt to remove the unit to add an aux cable for my ipod, so i was thinking of disassembling the head unit to look for shorts or cold joints. Im no pro with electronics schematics and wiring diagrams, but i've got a good amount of soldering experience behind me. go figure.
any help you guys could send my way would be very appreciated. I've wanted a 4runner since before i was old enough to drive, and i'd like to make my first one as awesome as possible.
