Climate Control Module question

I have a 99, my module is the basic of the basic. I have the two sliders and the two knobs.

My question is, my bud has an 01 and he has the 2 button, 3 knob control module. I have found these for sale before and I like the look better. Do they just plug right in with the same plugs? I am sure he would not like it if I pulled his center console/cluster apart, even though it literally is only 3 pieces.

How about a limited module with the screen and all?

Thanks!

Limited would probably be a PITA. The limited has auto climate control, which requires photo cells, and temp sensors and servo motors that the basic climate control doesn't need.

as far as the early vs late model, i can't help there .... you could always look up the wire pinout on the TIS site.

For what it's worth, I would encourage you not to get the digital climate control. Not that you probably want to deal with the additional expense of the add-ons necessary to pull this off, but that's the one thing I do not like about my 99 Limited. If I could replace it with a standard switch system I would. I've had to replace the digital control head and I searched for about two months before I found something that wasn't $800.

Yeah you need the computer and extra sensors for the digital unit , not plug and play for sure and very.expensive .

I have the digital unit from canada that reads in c, if I want it to read in f, I have to swap everything out, 1k or so for the job just for computer and.sensors .....

Also if your bent on doing this do the led mod from the get go , it will save.you.some pain in the long run

Do you have a picture of the back of this unit?

Maybe the plugs are the same.

as for your application, your sliders are connected directly to cables while the above picture is electrical.

I'm going to say no, it will not work very easily. For two reasons: The fresh air/recirculate control changes from a slider to a knob....so the controls behind the HVAC head are different for that. Second, the A/C button moves from it's classic position to a completely different place, and a different style button. The old style A/C button is pretty unique and self contained....that new style one is quite a bit different.

What did you end up doing COB? I've been wondering the same thing lately.

Well, I just kept the one I have. No sense in changing it really... not for the 01-02 module which is very similar. The connections are all off and it would just be a pain in the ass for the same thing.

The Limited module would have been free for me, I had a Limited traded in at my work and I was gonna do the ol' switcheroo. Didn't do it, though.

The rest of you, thanks, but I posted this thread 2 years ago :)
