I have an 07 4Runner SR5. When you turn on the headlights at night and the backlight on the climate control panel comes on, the backlight changes brightness from one side or the other. Its very subtle but very annoying. I took it to the dealership and they just want me to replace it. Normally that wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that a new control system costs $1000. The only things I am running is the radio, headlights, and the AC system. I thought about replacing the two bulbs behind the unit but if they were out, I would have thought the backlight would just stop working all together. The only other thing I can think of is some kind of power drain caused be a loose wire. If anyone has fixed this problem before please let me know. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
