Clock and Antenna Issues after Stereo Installation

Terrible radio feedback noise and the need for bluetooth technology finally caught up to me.

I just had a 2-DIN stereo deck installed the other day.

This one to be specific.

AVH-X3500BHS - 2-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver with 6.1" WVGA Touchscreen Display, MIXTRAX, Bluetooth®, HD Radio? Tuner, SiriusXM Ready, and AppRadio Mode for iPhone® | Pioneer Electronics USA

Excellent piece of equipment BUT...

1. After installing, my antenna would always power up not just by turning the radio on but rather any instance the device is turned on. Be it using bluetooth, playing video and audio cds.

Is there a fix for this? It really is annoying.

2. My clock would not work after. Checked all the fuses and the connection at the back and they're all intact. Could be a coincidence that my clock died the same time I installed this? What are the signs of a dead clock?

Thanks for your helping out!

There are two ports that your clock wiring harness is able to plug into. One of those ports is a "dummy" port. Double check that you're not plugged into that one. When I bought my '99 my clock didn't work. I drove it for two years thinking it was busted, until I found out about the dummy port, and sure enough, that's where the clock was plugged into.

The radio will have 2 blue wires and are most probably hooked up backwards.
Reversing the wires should solve your problem.

Blue with white stripe (remote turn on)
- this wire is energized as soon as the radio is turned on of things like external amps and processors

Blue (power antenna)
- this wire only energizes when the tuner source is selected on your radio.
- it will be turned off when using dvd, opd aux, etc.
