Hi,

Has anyone have issues with their cluster that seem to be loose?(on the RPM side). I was on my way to work this monring and I hear squeaking sound(uneven roads) that is coming from the cluster and when I put my hand on the rpm section of the cluster it squeaking stops. I never remove the cluster before, so it should not be loose.

No issues with the cluster, but I do have a minor squeak where the silver plastic trim meets the dash above the radio.
Not a big deal - just one of those things that happens in the cold.

You might be right, I do not remember hearing this squeaking sound last summer. I will have to wait and see I guess.

I have both of the squeaks talked about above. The one behind the cluster was bad and i pulled the trim off and just put it back on and the squeak was gone. Before i could push firmly on it and it would squeak now there is nothing. I think it wasn't installed
correctly. The second one by the radio im still woking on. I have drove around with the climate control removed and i dont notice it. Im going to buy some felt and use that where ever the trim and c.c. unit touch and see if that fixes it. ill get back to ya

Can you provide more details about pulling the trim off? Are you referring to the silver trim? That squeaking sound is very annoying if you dont' turn the radio on.

The way i took off the silver trim is. First I pulled out the cubby cover it just pulls up and then out. Then there is a screw that holds the climate control unit bellow it. After that the c.c. is held in there by 4 clips in each corner, give it a frim tug. You should see 2 10m bolts after they come out tug on the trim and it will pop out about 2-3 inches and put some felt around the edge. i just did that earlier and have not heard the noise. The trim around the cluster is a little more work.

dashboard noise fixed

My 06' SR5 had this same rattle noise since last November. And whenever I drove to the dealer, the noise stopped. Finally I went to the dealer today and this service advisor agreed to have my truck inspected without riding out with the service guy first. After 3 hours they told me that the rattle was fixed. Here is what says on the invoice, "rattle noise at left side of the instrument panel cover removed instrument panel and add foam pad to plastic clips and under instrument panel bolts resequred wire harness re-installed all previous removed parts test drive ok now. rattle noise is gone"

I think this may help.

I have an 06 with the same noise coming from above the radio. I haven't quite figured out how to stop it.
