Clutch Master Cylinder reservoir is loose OR stupid bushing problem?

he's gone

Been having clutch issues, right now the clutch pedal is about an inch from the floor. Rather than being loose, if I pull it up it kind of pops up and stays in place and then will pop back down, looks like it is binding on the spring, is this the worn out bushing problem I've read a little about?

If so, seems like I also read that it can cause the clutch master cylinder to crap out?

Finally poked around myself, and noticed that the reservoir on top of the master cylinder is loose where it connects to the cylinder itself, don't see any fluid around it. Seems like it is supposed to be that way.

This is the third or fourth time the clutch pedal did not want to come back up, the last three times it resolved itself pretty quickly, but also was not right at the floor like it is now, it was half way up.

Part 2: I typed out the above and went back out to see if there was anything else I had missed. The Clutch pedal had magically popped back up.

I'm thinking I just need to get a new master cylinder and see what happens, they aren't very expensive, and I think i can slide it in there myself.

It's probably the pedal return spring. I'd look at doing an end run around the PITA of trying to replace that by just adding a more conventional return spring under the dash.

The OP never reported back, but I'd be interested, if the OP sees this, as to what the solution was.

My symptoms last week were exactly the same, where it turned out the solution was indeed, to either replace the QPQ bushings and the pedal and the double-coil clutch-pedal-return spring, or to just retrofit a clutch-pedal return spring (not a brake-pedal return spring!).

Details are all here, sufficient to do the job yourself.

This is the route I went, but there are multiple available routes:
a. Replace the OEM setup (about $150 locally)
b. Retrofit a brass or nylon P bushing into the word pedal tab
c. Retrofit a clutch (not brake!) pedal return spring
