I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to have extra bolts after the job is done. Does anyo

Yes, this seems like a silly question, But I recently completed changing out the clutch pedal bushing (took me almost 2 months to actually complete this 10 minute job). And when I was done I had a mystery bolt that literally seems like it fell out of the sky.

I pulled out the entire pedal assembly which only had one bolt under the dash, -a black 14mm bolt, But I did end up taking off the knee panel, and AC vent tube to give myself more room. The bolt in question is a gold, 12 mm headed bolt.
I literally went out one morning to finish the job, and the bolt was laying right in front of the clutch pedal. I'm 100% positive I didn't remove it, And I tried searching all around under the dash to see where it could have come from but I don't see any threaded holes. I don't believe it came from the dash panel since all of those are 10 mm bolts. Does anyone have a clue where this could have come from?

I hate to respond just to say I've got nothing...but I've got nothing. That is a totally generic looking bolt I've seen and removed 100 times while working on the interior of my 4Runner.

12mm suggests it's meant to secure more of a main component than a trim piece.

Sorry if this posts weird, my first time using the forum.

That kind of looks like one of the bolts that holds the panel under the steering column. I replaced mine recently and it had 4 gold bolts that looked like that one.

I could be totally wrong but it's a good place to check.

Not weird at all and thanks. Do you ,mean dash knee panel part? That's where I originally thought it came from, but all four of mine are black and are 10 mm so they are different. I still can't figure out where it came from
