How I made my clutch better by adding an extension spring to help the torsion spring on the truck bring the pedal back. I could not attach a picture to the post. Sorry
I wish I had not seen this post when I was researching, but I did, and for the longest time, I thought the standard solution was to add an
additional tension spring to the existing double-coil torsion spring, like you did.
Personally, I still don't see how an additional spring will fit, given that the torsion spring takes up a lot of room in the already cramped clutch-pedal bracket assembly.
Only later did I realize that most people swap out the original torsion spring for the tension spring, leaving only one spring in the end, and not two.
Now that I know what the real problem is, I don't see how adding the second spring will help anyway, since the stiction is due to the first spring hanging up, usually because the P bushing has failed years prior (maybe even ten or fifteen years prior), causing the torsion spring and clutch pedal to torsion-spring P tab to grind together (causing the classic squeak many of us have heard).
There's a lot more detail in this thread, from last week, where many of us looked at the problem from all angles, so please see that thread for the details.
