If this proves to be the case, Toyota is going to be in a world of hurt...the kind of hurt that could bring them to their knees....

Here's to hoping that there is no merit to this possibility...

Put it this way...I think the "no layoff during tough times" company policy would go out the window in a hurry if definitive proof of electronics problems arose...

Even if its true, I'm glad I bought mine yesterday. (02/08/10) The used car manager came over and sat down assuring me 4runners aren't affected and a good vehicle. I told him I wouldn't be sitting here if I thought other wise. Big snow coming tonight so I'm pumped to really try it out !:guitar3:

I hope the shims fixes existing vehicles and new pedals in production vehicles will be the end of it. Currently, resale value are down for Toyota owners. If Toyota comes up with something else for unintended acceleration, then they have little to no credibility left. At this point Toyota announcing recalls isn't even news anymore... what else is new.

Toyota is laying off people. NUMMI, though not entirely their fault, since GM pulled out of the joint venture.

At work, a bunch of us engineers in electronics talk about this fairly often. Most of us think there are deeper issues in the electronics based on how some of the failures were reported.
