Coil over install help

Anybody have some thoughts on this issue:

I got some fox 2.5 that I was trying to install on my 05 t4r, after installing them I couldn't completely reconnect my TC UCA to the knuckle. I even tried jacking up the truck under the lower control arm and I still couldn't get the two parts completely connected. The spring was hitting the UCA. Any thoughts? I got the shock through a friend of a friend who said that the shock was off a hi lux but should work on my t4r...the springs are 650# could this be a calving issue? Thoughts, advice or recommendations would be awesome!!

A quick fox 2.5 part number search looks like the 4R and hilux have different part #s. Check out this link and compare: FOX Racing Shocks.

The 650# 2.5" spring is not the problem. Also, please be advised that the TC UCA nuts are not, to my knowledge, reusable. At least on my 03, they are an odd out-of-round (forget tech term) locking nut that will never torque down after you've removed it and try and reassemble. If yours is the same, there's a major safety issue to consider.

Bummer about the hilux coilover. I know that the OMEs for 4th gen 4rs were based on the hilux platform, but it sounds like with a 2.5" spring they just don't quite fit. Good luck!

Can you post a pic or two of the fitment issue, and list pn# if legible?

Chris,

Its definitely not a part designed for the t4r. I figured, based on the price, I would give it a shot. Everything fits snd lines up, but I think the shocks are valved for s much heavier weight...if that makes any sense. I mean, I was lifting the entire truck up at the lower control arm and it still wasn't compressing the shocks enough to fully seat the bolt that attaches the UCA to the knuckle. I've already taken the shocks off, but the TC UCAS don't work well with standard t4r shocks, so now the tire is rubbing on the knuckle. Im going to try and lower the fox shocks from where they were... I just need to find a coil compressor that will fit.
