Coilover question

How do you run a coilover with 2 springs as oppose to 1 and what coilovers would i need to use? anything special in that department.? I was reading a thread on pirate 4x4 about the whole coilover systems. Anyone on here using coilovers want to chime in on what they use where they bought from tire size lift etc, any specs that would affect weight suspension and ride quality.

I'm looking for good shocks that can handle the crappy roads in my city... And I want to know a good rear end set up for running a 3-4 in lift that will handle bumps well.

I really like the idea of the dual spring progressive coilover system. But that seems like it might cost more money than my 4runner is worth xD

Mainly because coilovers for IFS setups are too small to fit two springs for a dual rate setup.

I'd look into an ICON setup.

Typically you would need a 10" travel shock to run a dual rate spring setup... It just takes a lot of movement in order to get both springs pre-loaded and working correctly. Icon's and other brands are more like a 6" to 8" shock max.

Thats said if one was inclined enough, did enough research, and was willing to spend the time and money on lots of spring combinations, you might be able to make something that works...

As stated above, I would reccomend just going with a shock like Icon offers. They are a very good best of both worlds shock. I had them on a 1st Gen Tacoma and they were great on and off road.
