Coilovers vs springs

If the spring rates are the same and the only difference is the spring length then there will be no noticeable change in ride quality between the two.

Longer springs will be more linear through suspension travel and should feel better (plusher) - but it will be a minor effect in many/most situations. Most of the aftermarket lift springs for the front are at least slightly stiffer though, so that it is more true on aftermarket coilovers than the OEM-style setup.
