Doubt the throttle body spacer netted you anything worthwhile.
Just get a drop-in filter like a dry AFE or something, the 4Runner comes with a factory CAI, most of the aftermarket units either are not true CAIs or just make the intake sound nicer.

Thinking about this too, long in the future though, and have always pondered about cold air intakes and it being worth it or not?? What's the difference between a dry AFE and an aftermarket cold intake like K&N or Volant or what have you? The 4th gen has what most recognize as already made CAI & only the filter & or carbon filter inside restricts cold air coming in more efficiently ! Look at it closely same as above stated products ! 100 of prior posts by older members on this subject ad nauseum unfortunately . THAT said it's your money & who am I to help keep it in your wallet, when you could spend on better stuff IMO . Just a fancier box/package & the afe dry doesn't need wetting or oiling just clean & replace . Hope this helps , this is not the CAI you want move along !!!

Well there's a ton of threads on this already... but basically my personal opinion is that the stock set-up already is a CAI. You could use a dry filter (I don't like wet ones... seem to dirty the MAF pretty commonly), but keep in mind a "performance" filter is one that typically has better flow because it has less filtration ability, wet filters try to rectify that with a tacky liquid.

I also have a thing about CAI, especially the metal ones. Metal conducts heat better than plastic. Under hood temperatures are high, especially at low speeds. So a metal CAI is more likely to increase incoming air temps than the plastic factory setup. Save your money, just my 2 cents.

I've sold a crap load of intakes for many cars/trucks, and the one I sell a ton of is for the Nissan Titan. The most power gains on that truck was from metal intake made by Injen, gave 24 hp, but that engine is a monster V8.
You have to think of it this way. Imagine throwing an icecube as fast as you can, through a metal tube. It's not going to melt or change, and the air in that tube is constantly NEW AIR from the outside. Metal tubes isn't bad, except maybe when you are at idle, but that's kinda a non issue.

All cars sold for the last 3 decades come stock with a cold air intake. Sometimes aftermarket kits improve slightly on stock, but mostly they don't. Many cheap kits actually remove the baffling and suck in hot air directly from your engine bay. These will improve gas mileage slightly at the cost of power.
