1.) Don't buy into the manufacturer's power gain claims.
2.) Absolutely don't bother.
So just an AFE or K&N filter will do? Don't get the full intake?

the reasoning why intakes do make a difference is sometimes is there is baffles, restrictions and bends. the engineers use this to adjust airflow and sound. the sound or lack of sound is what a lot of consumers enjoy. Living in CA we have the strictest emissions out of anybody. Constricting the oem intake is an easy way to decrease emissions and power. A lot of imported cars have a complicated intake added to reach America. The more surface area of a filter the less restriction it takes to get air to an engine.
the 4runner oem v8 intake has a ribs and a additional chamber that restrict some flow. This forum hates intakes for some reason and likes headers/mufflers. Its the same idea except on the front end.

OK, well finally I got the Split Sec PCU installed and tuned. After spending 2 hours on the dyno tuning here are the results. But first, I promised to release the results of the Volant CAI. This run was done with the stock map running in the PCU before we even started tuning. AFR's were right at 11.8:1, even though the graph I posted below doesn't show it. How about 17 AWHP?? I think that settles that:

Have any pictures of the 4th gen v6 setup? My engine bay is getting crowded so I don't know if it would fit
Where do you work again, Jason? Your information is really helpful, and with a V6 4.0L engine I'm considering an intake that'll grant me the most HP+T I can buy for my money. Oiled or dry, I'm planning on running A Borla system in the future, so I'm leaning towards the Dyno based on what you're telling meSee this. Again, if you want, just give me a call:
