Cold Air Knowlege

So Im looking to add a cold air to the ol' Stallion. The ones I'm looking at or have been suggested to me are the following:

AFE POWER - MAGNUM FORCE STAGE 2
K&N - 63 SERIES AIRCHARGER
K&N - 77 SERIES
AEM - COLD AIR INTAKE SYSTEMS

Which of these would be more efficient for my 05 4Runner and why?

I know some on here would prefer AFE to KN since KN requires oiling the filter whereas the AFE is a dry filter. For this reason i've been interested in getting AFE.

Factory Toyota Intake= Free CAI.



If you're just going for an aftermarket CAI for looks/sound/because you have money to blow. Go with a non-oiled filter unlike K&N.

LoL...yea they're all about sound. Unless you go further with a full cat back exhaust. Otherwise it's all sound. Sounds good by the way. :zoom:

Yup. Using the Torque app, I've discovered that the IAT's are about 3 degrees above ambient with the stock intake. You won't do better than that with an aftermarket CAI

Better sound but you are giving up power and accelerating engine wear...

Because the factory intake draws cooler air from the fender and also has an air filter to filter out dust and debris.

His setup is drawing in warmer, potentially dirty air from the engine compartment. Notice that with the tube removed the opening in the intake is only a foot or so above the exhaust manifold? Not good for power...

i have a true flow xdi i might want to get rid of. foam filter needs a cleaning i think, i use the unifoam brand to clean and oil the filter.
