Cold Start Injector switch

Okay so I have a 1995 4Runner v6 2wd. Just had all the heads milled and the timing chain replaced due to being sold a vehicle with a blown head gasket. Check engine light came on and it turns out the cold start injector switch is malfunctioned. VERY rough starting it cold. Didn't have the money or the time to get a Toyota Genuine CSI switch (the car wouldn't take an aftermarket switch), so the mechanic did a bypass on it. It works okay but it's still rough cold starting. What are the pros and cons of a cold start injector switch bypass and when should I get the switch?
