this morning when i cranked my 4r up, i heard a low whining noise under the hood. sounded like it might have been a belt but im not sure, i drove bout 3 miles and got out and it was gone. i'v heard belts that are really loud when u turn the car own but this wasnt really that loud. i have a 99 t4r with 109k, i bought it with 95k, and i have yet to do any work on it. i know the belts need to be changed and i was thinking the noise that i heard might be from a worn out belt thats letting me know uts time to replace it. by the way it was 32 here this morning so maybe the cold weather brought this on, who knows, really appreciate some help with this guys !

If you park outside it was probably caused by the moisture from condensation. Once you drive the engine gets hot enough to evaporate it and then your belts and pulleys are moisture free. Hence no more noise.
Its worth changing the idler pulley and belt tensioner when you do the timing belt soon to help prevent noise too.
