Yeah man, it's really simple actually- easier than I thought it was gonna be. The part that takes the longest is probably waiting for the painted parts to dry and being patient (which is hard for a kid with ADHD to do haha)
You'll need the following for the mod:
1. Silver spray paint (I used Duplicolor, unfortunately not the exact match for my Millenium Silver, but it was close enough for me)
2. 300-400 grit sand paper. I sanded all the surfaces for a good fifteen minutes
3. I used compressed air to make sure all the dust that remained after sanding was cleared. Not essential to the process but it helped
Here's how I went about it:
Disconnected what was remaining of the tabs behind the grill that connect the grill to the radiator support. I used an extra long flat head screw driver to reach the bottom tabs. They are pretty fragile so watch out
Sanded the grill and removed Toyota emblem which is held on by 3 Phillips head screws
Sprayed both parts with an air compressor to ensure they were clean
Put on 2 coats of the spray paint with about 20 minutes of time between each coat. Finished up with a coat of clear gloss
Painted the emblem with a flat black (2 coats once again), then finished with a coat of clear gloss. Sort of achieved a black pearl effect. I plan on doing the same treatment to my other emblems soon
After everything dried, I screwed the emblem back on and remounted the grill back on the truck. Done and done.
