Things you don't want to need to know, but probably should. Our place near the East troublesome Fire last year was a real eye opener. Geographically it was much worse. But being more BLM and Forest service land instead of fairly high density housing. You can't believe how fast those fires move with those type of winds. we get those winds fairly often. Many will find that insurance isn't what they expect. WE lost 28 houses in our neighborhood last year. Some fo the things you need to know. Expect to fight for every scrap you need to rebuild. There will be a time limit imposed by the insurance company to have a new certificate of occupancy. That means you need to get real busy real fast and get the house rebuilt. Most insurance companies have been pretty flexible on what you want to rebuild. Something I was so impressed by, that I jsut need to sayu something. There are services like Red Cross etc that are priceless in these situations. One I didn;t know of and had never heard of was amazing. That one was the Southern Baptists. I still don;t know much abou them. but they showed up with literally teams of volunteers. They also showed up with heavy equipment. Asking nothing, they went to work. Efficiently cleared lots so they could be rebuilt. Removed the HazMat etc. Offered any kind of support you could imagine. I can't tell you enough just how impressed I was with these people. Thre is a roller coaster of imotions to go through in the coming days.,weeks, and months. One of my neighbors who lost his house said something that was classic. He had one of the nicest houses in the neighborhood. He said "I now have the oportunity to fix all the things i didn't like about that house"
