Hello fellow T4R owners in Colorado. I moved here in October last year. I have recently installed new wheels and tires. KO2’s with fuel beasts 18x9 with -12mm offset. Needless to say I’m going to need a lift and a fantastic alignment. I’m not confident with the local dealerships. Considering I had spidertrax spacers on and when I asked if they would torque to 85lbs they looked at me like I insulted their mother. Anyway I look forward to everyone’s advice. And I will see you on the trail.

RSG on Colfax in Lakewood is a big favorite around here. RSG Off Road | Denver's elite 4×4 off road performance center.
For just alignments I've gone to Lakewood Alignment for years. Real alignment specialists - can't be beat. https://www.lakewoodalignmentandbrake.com/ Old school shop so be prepared for them to be "gruff".

I compared their prices to Slee and High Country Performance and they were all pretty much inline with each other. HCP might have been $50-$100 cheaper but they do mostly jeeps from what I can tell. I couldn't decipher how much experience they have with KDSS and...
The benefit is that RSG does mostly Toyotas - they know KDSS well (my truck is within 1/4" lean) and they don't try to oversell you like the guys in Golden.
I've worked with Jason and Drew at RSG the past couple months - they've offered tons of free and trustworthy advice and they did a solid job on my truck - so I do recommend them. Hell, I dealt with living just north of DTC and making my way to Lakewood and would do it again.

I like High Country Performance 4x4. They have done quite a few things for me including alignment at least 5 times. Their customer service is fantastic and they warranty their work for a year. They helped me out when a local suspension company wouldn't do anything when a shock blew at 13 months. Yes they work on lot's of Jeeps but I see plenty of Toyota's there too
Thank you everyone for the heads up on our local companies. I will check into them to see what will work for me. I look forward to anyone else that has experince in the area (front range). I will drive two hours for good reasonably priced work. I look forward to meeting some folks and hitting the trails.

I called RSG last week and they wanted $692 to install front and rear suspension spacers and do an alignment... So I'm going to install it myself.
Hmmm. That's more than my full install and alignment.
I’m curious in how well an independent shop like Toyota Care would be for lifts and alignments?

I was going to use RSG for the lift install, but it was too expensive...decided to tackle it myself...took me 6 hours. I understand shops have to make money, but if I guesstimate the shop is much faster than me and use 4 hours for an install time, that’s around $200/hr.
I did use RSG for my alignment though and the time they spent to make it right.

They are close to my house and I've driven by periodically. I've never seen any trucks but that doesn't mean they don't work on them. Maybe ask about their experience with lifts? (Although some shops will tell you then can do anything to get the business.)
As far as alignment goes I'd ask what type of alignment machine they use then ask here if anyone has had good luck with that.
$200 per hour is high I would think. Did you get a detailed written quote? It would tell you exactly what their hourly rate is. I looked at my recent work and it was $125 an hour. Considering a good tech is getting $40 an hour or more that's not bad.
Also ask how long they warranty their work if at all.
Generally I have been able to provide some of the parts I needed to the shop so I could shop the lowest price. For example I am having a bumper, back-lights and lift installed shortly. They allowed me to purchase the bumper since I would have to pay more through them. However, for the lights and lift components they had a better price than I could find. It's important to remember that they need to make money obviously.

Just to be clear, it is the same amount of work either way.
Installing suspension is super easy - any shop should be able to handle it. Independent shops like that usually outsource their alignments so it kinda depends on who they send it out to.
An alignment at Lakewood Alignment is around $100 FWIW which is pretty standard. They do suspension installs too. I've never had them do work like that for me (I always do suspension myself) but if their install work is anything like their alignment work, it'll be perfect.
If I remember correctly, my quote was a bit more than $800 for the lift installation....don’t believe it included the alignment which was another $130+.
4 hours was purely an estimate on my side as it took me 6 hours in my garage without a lift...my first time. I assume RSG (or any competent shop) would be quite a bit quicker with the correct tools, lift, and experience.
Yep, I recognize a shop has to make money...just more than I was willing to pay and pushed me to do it myself.
This is an expensive hobby, thus the need to learn what one can do for themself. If I didn’t have the time nor basic skills, then I wouldn’t have a choice and would have taken it to a shop like RSG.

Agreed. Plus you get to know your truck. I did it with the help of a friend on my FJ and will be doing the 4Runner this weekend myself. There are so many videos/resources out there to help everyone can probably do it.

Guys at Toytec will get you situated. Any of these options mentioned are plenty capable to rebuild suspensions. I enjoyed Toytec because they had a nice showroom where i could see all the products before i bought anything - and they also manufactured the parts i purchased and then did an alignment for me after i installed myself - aka double checked my work :thumb3:

RSG hasn't been around long doing all the Toyota work they are doing now. (At least not for RSG anyway most of the guys worked for the others previously) I'd say about 2 years. They were originally a remote start and car audio shop. Now saying that they have most of the guys that used to work on Toyotas around Denver... that could be true
