ComeUp winches - whatdya' think?

I'm thinking about buying a ComeUp SEAL GEN2 9.5rs winch, to go in an SSO slimline bumper on my 4R.

Advertised specs and features sound good, but I'm looking for real world feedback from folks who have owned and used ComeUp winches.

Also, is anyone aware of vendors that carry ComeUp and have the best prices, or sales for the upcoming Black Friday?

I never owned or used a winch but the off road magazines I read recommend sticking with a name brand high quality winch such as a Warn. Is this winch made in China? If so will it work properly when it is really needed?

I image its fine although I have no first hand experience with the brand. There is no doubt WARN is overpriced, I got a good package deal with some other parts I ordered but if I was paying full price, unless my life depended on it, I would save money and get something else...

That said, the remote spool feature of the Zeon (not sure what other models offer this) is EXTREMELY handy, when I have used it having that and the wireless remote is really handy being able to winch from "anywhere" - within range of course.

Only downside is I have found the wireless controller does not hold a charge forever so every few months I plug it in to top it off, last thing you need is to NEED your winch and then your wireless remote is dead!

I've had a 9.5 with my SSO bumper since it was installed in late 2014. The winch works fine but you will have to relocate the solenoid because it won't fit behind the nose in that location on the winch. Take a look at my build thread linked in my sig line. There are several pictures in there of the installation in the first few pages. ComeUp is a reputable company that built winches for other name brands for years before they decided to start selling under their own name. I used mine 3 times in the first year but haven't had to since, so I probably need to look at replacing the synthetic rope.

Here is where I located my solenoid box. it was pretty much a direct fit. It's on the nose strut on the passenger side near the headlight.

We sell ComeUp winches, they are a very high quality winch. Very durable and water tight. The line speed on them is really quick compared to most winches we have used and the wireless remote works great. Overall we think they are very comparable in quality to a Warn winch. They are manufactured in Taiwan, not China. Typically products like this that get made in Taiwan are much better quality than a Chinese made product.

We don't make great margins on them so we wont be offering any BF deals or anything like that, but we could get you a bit of a discount if you want to send us a message. I really don't see their product go on sale real often.

ComeUp has been making winches a long time and they have been tested and rated as top quality in several Shoot-outs......I would not hesitate to buy one. I have the Harbor Freight and it is also surprisingly well built and rated. Warn and Ramsey are selling foreign, rebadged versions to compete because their top winches are very expensive.....
