Compression Check with Intake Manifold off

I removed the intake manifold on my 2000 5VZ-FE 3.4
I want to check the compression before putting things back together.
Can I just disable the fuel pump and crank it with a key?

That should be ok. Pull the ECU fuse also.

You don’t have to block open the throttle plate if it’s not there. [emoji12]

Thanks for the confirmation and info on the ECU fuse.
It is handy having the throttle body off!


One of the issues I have with a compression check is watching the wrong” most popular” YouTube video that mention not holding the throttle wide open while doing the test.
