Compressor Mount

I finally got my camping gear in order and am ready to hit some trails and see some stars. I'm going to keep my truck mostly stock(no plans for rock crawling) nothing like the badass purpose built rigs some of you guys have, but I would like to be able to access some of the prettier parts of my state with a little more ease.

I would very much like to add a compressor to my truck for some peace of mind (thinking about this guy) but I don't really want to mount it in the engine bay. I'm not 100% against it I would just prefer to leave my cramped engine bay alone.

Has anyone mounted a compressor in a location similar to these pictures from an FJ and would you do it again?

I could also copy Equipt's idea from ExPro and mount it to a storage box but I don't have a permanent box and would prefer to still have the room to sleep in/put my mountain bike back there.

Any ideas?

Why not a portable ARB? I love mine and it is the same compressor. You can get the single or twin also.

Keep in mind the large wire you are going to have to run for it. I think mine draw like 50 something amps, I'm sure the ARB is similar.

Compressor

To save space for cargo, take it only when you need it and use battery clamps and a 25 ft coiled air line. No permanent mount, no cables to run. Downside - someone will have to hold it in place while it's running to keep it from walking away and disconneting the cables.

CO2 can be another option, it will fill in 30 seconds per tire instead of a few minutes. That's a long time to squat beside tires. I made my CO2 setup for half the price of a PowerTank.

i have been behind the bumper of a 5th gen and i am sure i can put a 2 gallon viair tank and compressor in there and train horns

my cousin didnt want to do it....every day he drives his truck in NYC, he calls me and says "we should have put the trains horn in. i could have used it today" LOL

Can that ARB twin compressor fit in the little door on the left side of the trunk where the factory bottle jack normally goes? I think that's where I want to put one, but I don't know the dimensions off-hand. The bottle jack is too small to be of any use to me, so I removed it long ago.

I have a 10lb powertank myself, and have priced out building one myself at just over half what I paid for the powertank. It's absolutely awesome solution for filling tires quickly and running air tools, and I would never be without it again tbh. All is great until the CO2 runs out, which is why I also have a backup TJM compressor, tidily nestled under the hood behind the fuse box.

You might be able to stuff it in there but idk. Probably depends on if you plan to run the manifold as well. Mine is in the engine bay and seems fine in there. Why not just install there?

How did you mount it in there? Did you fab something up and if so, how much was it?

I would rather install it in engine bay too. When it in the trunk it reduces storage space and might be hard to use if you have a lot of things in the trunk. But personally I put mine compressor with other recovery/survival stuff in backpack strapped to the backseat anchor. One day I might try to mount compressor in the engine bay.

I did have a bracket fabbed up. It was done along with so many other things I really don't have a cost for ya. It doesn't look too involved...
