Confused about Option Packages on 2007-08 4Runner

Hi!

I just bought my first 4runner, it is a Limited 4x4 V8 with the navigaton. I thought from reading the brochure that it had XREAS but it's not on the window sticker and the car does not have it clearly.

After a quick visit to toyota.com, I learned that I bought option package C which is the most expensive package but it lacks XREAS. The only difference that I can tell between option C and option B (with the cool XREAS) is floormats.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why I bought what looks like an inferior package for almost $1000 more with package C? Does anyone know if there are any differences that apply between the two, other than floormats?

I hope my normal suspension is just fine ;-)

The names "A", "B", "C", etc. used by the "Build Your Toyota" area on the Web site aren't very official, as they are really just option groupings #1, #2, #3, etc., being shipped to your region of the country at the time you visit the Web site.

Can you share with us which actual options were in that "Package C"? That will help us understand what you have. That "Package B" group must have another difference in order to be $1000 less than what you bought. Maybe no navigation in it?

Trust me, the normal suspension is just fine. If you choose to do suspension upgrades you have more options. Some people who want to upgrade get caught in the dilemna "do I scrap the XREAS and do... Or do I limit my suspension upgrades to preserve the XREAS?" Finally, if you choose to do zero upgrades the stock suspension is nice & capable. It's a wonderful blend designed to be satisfying to all types. This seldom works but in the case of T4R they did a pretty good job.

I've driven XREAS. It works and it is cool. I'm not trying to slam it; I am trying to let you "have peace" without XREAS.

Thank you so much for the peace of mind ~ after reading a few posts about the XREAS, I think I am glad I went without due to problems / leaks and expensive future repairs.

I just felt a little bit jilted that my 4R didn't have it after the salesman told me it did.

All is well, Im very happy with the truck. The ride quality is what sold me. The new Highlander was more elegant inside but it drove terrible!

I think I would go back to the dealer and talk to the sales manager about how you feel slighted and maybe he will throw in some oil changes or something good. I have both suspensions on my two and don't notice much difference, the wife likes the ride in the non one.

It's amazing how little many (not all, but most) salespeople know about their products. If you even the most basic research you usually wind up teaching a car salesperson about how their option packages work and what they contain. :awais:

1. I would go to the dealer and express your thoughts in a nice way , just for your own piece of mind if nothing else.

2. I have Xreas and it nice , but not a huge deal . Without it you can do suspension mods alot easier if you wish , if you are not happy with the way it handles ( body roll) you can easily put on a better set of shocks or shocks and springs that in my opinion would be better than Xreas anyway.

3. I've driven both an SR5 with no Xreas and a Sport with Xreas (comes std. on sport ) that was the least of my concerns was having Xreas. You will be fine without it . I bought the sport because I liked the int. & looks of it and it had a V8 and was on the lot pretty much the way I wanted it . Oh lets not forget the high performance hood scoop.....lol which I actually like the look.

One other thing I've learned from being on here and always have an actual interest in the trucks I drive. The sales and service people don't know jack compared to what you learn on here.

I can't tell you how helpful that is to hear! Sounds like you've got a sweet lookin' ride!
I LOVE THE NEW 4Runner! It's one incredible product.

It was really hard to decide against the Highlander, but they are two separate vehicles and at the end of the day, the 4runner drove much better! The only advantage highlander had was the interior, the outside is uggggly.
