Confused! Lift and tire question

I promised ive searched and all thats done is manage to confuse me more! This is my first truck so lifts and big ole tires are a new thing to me!

So im interested in getting a small lift and some new tires for my 2000 Limited. Ive been looking at the Toyotec kit that includes the 2.5" spacers in the front and OME springs for the rear. My question is i dont know if i should get the 906s or the 890s... Wouldn't the 906s end up with a negative rake since its a lower lift amount? Also how big of a tire can i fit with a 2.5" lift with out having to do any cutting?

Whats you actual goals for the truck?

If its just bigger tires and lift for looks than that kit will work out well. The 890 coils will give you 3" lift and ride good with stock bumpers. But with the front spacers it will cause excessive droop when the front flexes causing your ball joints to fail prematurely. Ive actually seen a perfect ball joint tear in less than 3000 miles after a new spacer lift.

The largest you can fit without cutting would only be next tire size up which is the 265/75/16 and runs around 31.7" tall. I have treadwrights which are retreads and they rub a little at sit around 32". If you went too 285/75/16 (33"s) than you would need to do a little cutting only when fully flexing but if this rig is stayin on the road the 33"s may work fine.

So what you are saying is instead of getting that "most popular" toyotec kit i should get the OME 880s in the front and 906s in the rear for a minimal lift that will allow me to run 265/75/16s with no issues?

You could run 265/75/16's now, but that's not a bad route to go either. I would almost just go 2.5-3". It's not a huge amount, but enough that you'll notice it. And the nuts and bolts to do that aren't much different than doing a smaller lift.
