Confused with CB Install options !

Hello Guys,

As I'm looking to install a CB on my 4R, so far these are the parts I'm looking into, could you correct me if I'm wrong or suggest better alternatives ? :hippie:

-Firestik II 5ft (or should I go with 4ft?)
-Firestik SS-3H Heavy Duty spring
-Firestik Stud K-4A (pure guess, is it even the one I need?)
-Firestik 18ft cable
-Rago 5th Gen CB mount

I installed a Cobra WX75 4 years ago. It's a great radio but I never used it. A few off road trips and no one was on CB. On the highway there is a little activity but not worth the noise and bother.

I took it out a few days ago.

It may be easier to get a pair of Family radios and use them on occasion. I used them for a freeway trip and we were able to communicate a mile away.

If you do need a CB, I would suggest a steel whip, it will do much better with low branches and when you forget and drive in a garage. I have a 4ft Fire-Stik sitting in the shop. I did not want a big fishing pole sticking up.

A magnetic mount is convenient for occasional use. I run the cable under the rear hatch or left rear door trapping it under the door gasket.

If someone really wants a CB, I can make a good deal on my Cobra WX75.

I've used a K40 mag-mount antenna with great results, then I replaced with a firestick. The firestick was much less flexible than I expected (not really flexible at all), so I replaced it with a Browning NMO mount steel whip antenna. The Browning took a bit of trimming to tune, but I get a great NMO and it's flexible enough that I don't have to worry about it.

I don't really understand the love for firesticks, get a 1/4 wave metal whip
