Confused

What is this piece? It is missing on mine. I'm going to eventually replace the entire front bumper. I'm just wondering what the heck this is?

Maybe it pops off encase you need to throw a strap on the factory tow hook it won't drag on your bumper. Only thing I can think of, never really noticed it before, I know on the non-fat-lip 3rd gen bumpers that wasn't there, probably because those bumpers sat higher (more clearance to tow hook).

Remove to access the tow hook without ripping off bumper.

When my '00 project arrived at my house that piece was barely hanging on. Another few miles and it would've fallen off.
