Consensus on LBJ bolts

Can the LBJ bolts be replaced with the truck on the ground or do you have to lift it? I'm thinking of buying a set and replacing them one at a time? My LBJs were replead about 60xxx miles ago. The shop gave me back my new OEM nuts and bolts. They said I didn't need them. Since then these LBJ bolts have been reused twice. Once to replace LCAs and once when replacing CV axles.

I would only be comfortable changing the bolts one at a time with wheels on the ground. Lifting it would still be ideal to ensure there’s no load on the joint.

Not sure if your a moderator for this forum but if your not I don’t see why you would care. Not like you own or fund this forum and have to “clean up”

A simple “welfare wagon your an idiot but yes I’d change the bolts” would answer my question and send this thread into the depths of the 1000 others that will never see the light of day

I don’t have enough time in my day to care about how many times a thread has been posted, if I stopped and commented about ever stupid thing I saw on the internet I’d have lived 6 lifetimes already. [emoji482]

Don't worry friend, I appreciate being reminded of very important matters like lower ball joint bolts, as for example, I remember re-using my old ones on the last LBJ replacement. That and the pink milkshake (change that rad after a few years) should be constantly remembered across the community.

Oh and message of public interest: check your valve lash at your next timing belt, your exhaust valves are most probably out of spec.

Yup, that's all good. Each bolt by itself has 7k-10k lbs of preload and 3-5k lbs of headroom above that before yield. Just one will hold the truck up static, no problem - and you'll have 3 in there at all times.

That's what I did with mine when I swapped over to the ARPs from the "Green" bolts. You might have to turn the wheels to access all the bolts, and I have 17" wheels, so I'm not sure of clearance if you have 16's/15's.
