39k for a 2010 with only 67k and all maintenance records. A cream puff. Still emotionally attached to the 4runner though so nothing is final yet. Just a test drive.

Wow. OK it's a LC, and nice V8.

Shitty mpg.
New 4R money, including a 3/36 warranty.
2 jump seats. Leave limited stg. room when up, near-zero when down.
7 years old, seven, and 67 thousand miles - LC or not, it's still gonna have way more maint than a new 4R with a real, fold-flat 3rd row.

I get the attraction, but "needing more room"? Where will you get that?
I've looked at LCs -- and the biggest turnoff is those archaic jump seats.
 
Sorry. Should've been more clear. Yes the black 4runner is mine. They offered 33k for it. It has 29k on the odo and it's a 16 trail. The gold land cruiser is a 2010 with 67k on the odo and they want 39500 for it. It drives like a dream compared to my 4rnr but the weight is definitely noticeable when breaking. Not too fond of the infotainment/ nav system is not thst great. Albeit it's 7 years old and I happen to love the entune system.

After all the money and work I've put into my 4runner and all th great adventures, I've decided to go home and sleep on it.

Look at the third row 4Runners and if you really want an LC, look at the 13+ model year. The tech in 13+ is A LOT better

Always, always, the best plan when big money is involved. Did the salesman say "it might be gone soon" ... or some such? They usually do.
 
Thanks all, for the input. Good advice all around. Regarding the 3d row requirement, I'm focused on LC because they seem to have a slightly greater capacity all around, agree that the jump seats suck but with 2 kids in car seats and an adolescent girl, this seemed like a decent balance of more power, slightly more space for kids, yet not the bulky footprint of the sequoia. I do still want to be able to hit trails with the gang here in the mid atlantic/appalachian region. If that last piece didn't matter and I just wanted a family hauler, I'd get a used sequoia.

I though 33k for my truck was decent but after reflecting on the rife home, I realized that I could probably get near same quote without the mods and that I'd make more money parting it out.

They actually didn't say that. I've been watching this truck now for almost a month and it hasn't sold and they have dropped the price.

I'll never buy used nor new from a dealership for that reason alone.

Thanks. I looked at 3d row 4runners but I considered power and hauling/towing as well. I'm looking at building a an offroad camper so increasing power would be nice. Everything has compromises though I guess. If they'd just get rid of the jump seats and build fold flats like the sequioa we'd be all set.

Just an aside here - but I've generally found comparable mile/year LX570's to be significantly less expensive than Land Cruisers. I prefer the LC200 over the LX, but might buy an LX for the lower price. Might be worth a search if you haven't yet. If I could go back to 2014 and knew gas would stay at $2/gal - I'd probably have bought a used LC200. I don't even have kids. Just like the v8. Don't like the weight - but I think I could fix that.

I'm gonna go ahead and say it: the Toyota Sienna is a far more capable vehicle for growing families than the 4R or LC. Seriously--no comparison. I speak from experience.

Obviously if you need real trail capabilities, then not the Sienna. And yes, it can be a culture shock to move to a mini van. But everything is easier with the van. I know you don't want to hear this, but it is truth. :-)
