In a similiar situation here trying to decide between a 4R and LC200.
Currently we have no Toyota SUV in the garage for the first time in a long time, waiting on 2018 colors to be released before going for test drives.

Thanks. I am pretty much decided on keeping the 4runner. Like others have said, and I've reflected on now, it doesn't make sense to trade in my newer, modified to my liking, 4runner with 29k miles and a 100k platinum warranty and extended maintenance plan, for a 7 yr old landcruiser, in spite of the fact that I really want one. But it turns out that I can survive a couple more years or more with 3 kids in the back. I just enjoy my 4runner too much to part with it now. And frankly, the community here is the best. [emoji122]

I don't have kids, but I went through a similar phase after buying and lightly modding my 4Runner where I suddenly started looking at 4 year old Land Cruisers online and wondering if that's really what I wanted. I even went a drove a couple. I do love that V8, but I also felt how heavy it was and it took some wind out of my sails. Happy to admire them out the window of my 4Runner as they pass by.

that's reasonable... I'm leaning towards getting the LC200 before having kids so I don't have to justify it after the fact, it will be built in to the family mod rather than vice versa...

That's probably best. I'll always luster after a landcruiser though no matter what I own.
