I'm going to look at a 1987 5spd 22re with 240,000 miles. The seller is a young man who bought it intending to SAS it but has decided the work and cost are not worth it to him and he is shoppin for a rig that's already converted. He bought this 4runnwr a couple months ago, hasn't even transferred the title yet but has DEQ'd it and it passed. He and his brother replaced the clutch but all the other work done to it was done while with previous owner(s). It appears to be in great condition, judging by the pictures. He's asking $2750 and he had it posted for $3250 last week and has come down. My questions are is that mileage a problem? What to look for or be concerned with on a test drive? Is he a touch high on the price?
I understand the longevity and reliability of a well maintained 22re is virtually unmatched which is why I'm after one. I'm hoping that the receipts he has from the previous owner show any head gasket, timing chain, brakes and fluids done, otherwise I am unsure whether I ought to pull the trigger on this one. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
