Console Cooler

So in our decision between an LR3 or the T4R we fell in love with the Land Rover's console cooler. Does anyone know if anyone has tried to install a cooler in a T4R?

I've had two trucks with centre console coolers and both were cool at first (sorry for the pun)... But after a while it was a pain not having the extra storage space.

That being said, my trail edition has a power outlet in the centre console, shouldn't be too hard to Jerry rig something.

Forget the cooler get a Fridge/Freezer for the back! With the 12V outlet in the back of the 5th Gen T4R (and hopefully the cargo tray) you should be able to fit an ARB Fridge/Freezer no problem! I have one in the garage and haven't put it in the 4Runner yet but I plan to on my first roadtrip.

Example:

Stolen picture from Expedition Portal, prolly an older 4Runner but you get the drift.

There are really cool, small and portable coolers out there that can be plugged into the car and also brought with you out of the car for hiking or parties. You don't lose storage in the console and you can upgrade or replace the cooler much easier.

I really don't see the point of a cooler in a center console. It takes time to cool off so it has to run for a while, it only cools when the car is running and it's attached to the car.

That said, I do remember my Jeep in high school that could fit a 12 pack and ice in the center console and provided a lot of fun. Ah, memories.

I have an ARB fridge that fits perfectly on the slideout tray in the back. It is great for roadtrips of all kinds as it holds quite a bit. The problem is that it does take some room up (about 2 medium to small luggage space), but having the ability to have cold drinks and food is a plus with two little kids. We found that the console cooler was a waste. If I left a drink in there in the summer and the car was off it was too hot to drink.

Scrap the LR3 idea. I had one and it wasn't all that I thought it would be. It did really well offroad (surprising actually), but the 4rnr is way nicer...and cheaper too!
