Console Lid Compartment

I did a quick search and didn't get anything so I thought I'd ask..

Does anyone do anything with the small compartment under the console lid?

Not the flip out top part, but the little pocket under the lid..

I've always wondered what someone could keep in there but everything I stick there usually just falls out into the main console area when I hit the brakes.

You could always mount some sort of not-so-crucial monitoring system in it.

i believe it was made for CDs?? in their jewel cases?

I saw a 5th gen guy who put a battery monitor in there.

I heard it was for a box of tissues. Just saw that some where else on here.

it's designed to hold a small box of tissues

Here's a pic from Uneek's ride

It took me 3 months to figure out what the flip out bracket on the back of the console was for. With a 4 and 5 year old in back I now use it daily.

Give us a pick with it in use plz. ;) I also never knew about the tissue box spot. Doh!

It's easier for me to explain than show a pic. Fold the plastic bracket up, then insert a plastic shopping bag through the middle and wrap the handles around the outside and through the notches. You now have a trash bag for your T4R. I figured this out not from the forum, but from actually reading my owners manual. :lmao::lmao:

Nice, gonna have to use that now that my boy is approaching his teens...I mean age 4! :D

This box fits. I picked some up from Target for a couple bucks.

Sorry to bring this post back from the dead but I checked my console lid and the plastic piece at the bottom that would actually hold the tissues is missing on my truck. Does anyone know the part number or where to look online to pick up this piece? Thanks in advance for any info.

Strange, I have an '05 SE, which I am the original owner of and I do not have that part either. In fact, I did not even know that there was supposed to be a piece there until I saw this thread a few moments ago. I checked my 4Runner parts diagram and there is not a separate part# for that specific piece. Here is the parts diagram:

As you can see, it really does not even show the specific part, but rather the whole "LID ASSY" as part# 58905. Not sure what the hell happened with my truck on the assembly line, but this was definately NOT INSTALLED.

I have an 04 sr5 and it looks like the inputs are definitely there for the piece, but it's just not there. I googled for a bit trying to find that piece but nada. I'm kind of ocd about any and all storage space possible and wish I could find it. Bummed. Anyone who doesn't use theirs want to sell it? ;):

Wow. He had some great prototypes there. I would love to purchase something like that for my center console. Hopefully, he will respond.

I've been really inactive on here lately, but I'm here to the rescue. What can I do for y'all? gaterose morphious

TiN; Ever come up with a final design on the tissue box?

To be honest, I haven't really worked on it in a few months, but I do remember that I was very close and I have a working prototype on file. Also, in my absence from this forum, I've figured out a good way to vapor-treat the plastic to make it a lot stronger. You guys looking for a replacement part or maybe something custom for tools?
