Swapped out my low beam H 11's for Philips H 9's. They are way brighter, with a clear beam. Easy to install after the two base mods you have to do.
Also installed Hella yellow H 11's and I am very happy about those as well. They are incredibly easy. I didn't have to remove part of the liner or anything. Just reached straight up and undid the base then the bulb.
Put in Sirius reverse LED's and they are bright as hell!

Purchased a set of XenonDepot H11 4300K Philips bulb HID kit, after installation noticed that one of the bulbs has a warmer color than the other. Called CS and the person told me that I need to give it some "burn-in" time, didn't have this issue in my previous set for my 2007 4Runner so now I have a nice white color light source on one side and a warmer (maybe 3500K?) color on the other.
CS rep told me to give it like a month, not sure if I want to be waiting for that long to get a replacement bulb. Personally I think it's a faulty bulb but what do I know...

The first set I ordered had a bad bulb. I have yet to try the replacement set.
You dont have to drill the the dustcap with these. I kept having moisture issues with the HIDs. (Yes I used a step bit, driver side even after swapping dust caps and lights from each side)

Im going to replace my H11 low beams with H9's, the 11's are just too dim at night on wet pavement...I installed brighter than stock yellow LED fog lights and they are nice, considering how dim the low beams are its necessary to turn on the fogs during rain at night to see the highway plus deer are active as heck so avoiding them as well

No lights will help you avoid deer. Drive slower (especially in thr rain).

well you gotta be able to see them to avoid them, especially the ones still in the lane after they were hit... on heavily traveled interstates they wait on the side of the highway in groups then they run across...last night there were 6 standing in the grass median waiting to cross

What I'm saying low beam are designed to shine low with cut-off way below the eye-level of oncoming drivers - the whole purpose is to not blind them. Fog lights are even lower. I guarantee you will not be able to see and react to anything on the side of the road ready for jumping at you if you drive at interstate speed - unless you are super-human. No legal low beam lights will help you. High beam are probably more helpful to see far enough for you to stop. Or off-road lighting. But still these suckers running into the road will give you zero time to react.

LED's will not work as efficiently in your side firing projectors at the low beam location. IMHO, you wasting your time money, and jeopardizing your/family safety. They may look brighter when you stand in front of them, but the beams will NOT project farther down the road.....

I did the headlight mod to my 2018 (H11 to H9 & 9005 to 9011), Philips halogen bulbs. They are much brighter than stock and work really well. I don’t see why anyone would want to monkey around with LEDs at this time.
Last weekend I was driving in the Sierra Nevada mountains on a 2 lane twisty road, trees on both sides, speed about 35 mph. High beams lit up everything. All of a sudden Bambi’s father leaps out about 3 car lengths ahead of me. I reacted fast enough to jam on the brakes and it gave the deer enough time to cross the road without being clobbered. Missed hitting it head on by a few feet. No way could I have avoided it at highway speed, no matter what headlights I had. You gotta slow down when deer are around.

Which h9 bulbs exactly did you go with? Today i installed these but i honestly cant tell the difference at all? Even with 1 stock h11 and one of these h9s side by side i really just couldnt tell much if any differences.
Id prefer to stick with halogen in the low beams but want a brighter light... And would really like a more "white" color.
This is with the H9 and a LED fog light... The led fog lights do not produce a very good beam pattern either. They are brighter than the stock fogs, but the light just disperses all over the place.
Im thinking i need another set of both fogs and low beams. But there are way too many choices out there.

You may be expecting too much out of your fog lights. LEDs do not work well as retrofits in fog light applications. It’s best to leave them as stock halogens and use them as they were designed and intended, in fog at slow speed:

I used Philips Standard H9 bulbs for the low beams.
H11 bulbs draw 55 watts and produce 1250 lumens.
H9 bulbs draw 65 watts and produce 2200 lumens.
You should be able to see the difference side by side against a white wall (at a distance) and on a dark street.

I agree with all of this. I've got a set of excellent LED drop-ins in my fogs but I'll most likely remove them. I did this knowing full well about Daniel Stern's recommendation, and I admit I did this mostly for looks. Visibility immediately in front and to the sides is awesome, but it is a detriment to long distance visibility when they are on. Also, the white color of LEDs does not lend itself well to the conditions that foglights are intended for.
Love my H9 lows and 9011 highs though!

I dunno... Guess i was definitely expecting more. My wifes camry xse lights the roads up much better, and has a whiter color light. So i was wanting similar.
Im thinking maybe i will try out the philips h9 X-tremeVision bulbs for my low beams, they are supposed to be a brighter setup than the h9 STANDARD bulbs. Though reviews make it sound like they dont last very long. So ill keep a set of backup bulbs in the 4runner just in case they go out.
Im not real worried about the fog lights performing perfectly as fog lights.... I only drive in fog occasionally, but drive at night a lot. And lots of cars dont even have fog lights. Id more prefer my fog lights to help during all night driving, not just in fog.

It appears that some brands require/suggest it and some don't. Even the XenonDepot Xtreme LED Pro H11s appear to be able to be installed with/without dust cap modification.
What is the advantage/disadvantage? Thanks in advance!

You will like the Phillips extreme, nice clean light, I had them in for a while with no issues. They have a blue film on the bulb. DDM saber pro led highs all day, but I did the DRL disable mod and anytime fogs mod so my fogs are my DRL. Philips led in the fogs, no problems. My wife has an xse too with factory leds, so I get it.

You don't have to modify the dust cap as everything fits inside the housing. Some LED bulbs have huge drivers and can't be stuffed, so at that point, you'll need to drill through the dust covers because your drivers are external.
I’m working on my Lexus IS250 bi-xenon projector retrofit and found a clearance issue compared to what others have done with retros. The base of the projector housing is designed to sit on an actuator of some sort, but it interferes with the bottom mounting point in the 4R housing. First thought was to cut/grind it down, but I decided to walk away and think through it a bit more. Any thoughts from those who have done a full projector retro?
