I'm posting some photos of my SSO Sliders. When I was shopping sliders I wanted something with a good enough footing at the rear door for my kids to have a decent step. These worked out great. These photos will show the clearance from the top view. You should be able to see how much of a step is available. I hope this helps someone.

It's been a couple weeks since I installed them, but I wanted to share some photos of my truck with these sliders.
I spent a lot of time researching and asking around, and ultimately went with the Slee slider option because:
- Love the way they look.
- Seemed more utilitarian in regards to functioning as a step.
- Was a reputable brand.
- Could get them immediately.
So far, love them, couldn't be happier.
Others remarked that they were on the expensive side, but after adding in the tread plating, powder coating and any other options to get them to a similar grade of function for me, many of the other options were close in price and NOT immediately available.
I'm a big believer in personal experience and testimony, so I called the one guy I knew had used them on his adventure rig to get his take. Paul from Equipt Expedition Outfitters (where I got my K9 rack) used these sliders on his 5th gen and couldn't say enough good things about them.
I'll update more in my build/adventure thread about the installation, etc.

Hey first I just wanted to say you have a very nice rig, looks great! Secondly I wanted to ask about your slee sliders. I just got bought my first 4R and i'm looking to add some sliders. I need something that will function as a step though, not just a bar to stand on. I saw the slee and they seem to be the best option (although I'm sure I missed something). I wanted to see how they held up, and how well they work as actual sliders. Can you use them to jack up your car, do they offer real world protection, etc... I've been doing some research on my own, and any input would be greatly appreciated.

I've been looking at the SSO sliders, they seem to be available at a very reasonable price and I noticed free shipping for the Labor Day sales so my question is how are you liking them? Anything you don't like about them? I would prefer that they angled up a bit. I'm wanting to order a set but going back and forth trying to make a decision, the C4 are very nice but the shipping cost is pretty significant. Thanks

Love them so far. The only problem was that it was difficult to paint inside the horizontal struts, but otherwise an easy install (well, one broken bolt, but that was my fault). For the money they can't be beat. They're good people. Make sure you call to take advantage of the T4R discount ($50).
Another problem is that they don't stick out very far. I was planning on cutting and reinstalling my old plastic rocker trim, but I'm afraid the plastic will stick out too far and block the steps. Maybe I'll take the chance and cut them, or maybe I'll spend the $$$ for Trail rocker plastic.
They function as steps for my 5'-2" wife and my kids while providing protection from rocks and stumps. If you want actual steps/running boards that also offer protection, these are great. If you want more protection and clearance and are willing to sacrifice ability to function as steps, then go for ones with an angled outer tube.

Thanks, I placed an order about 10 days ago. Didn't know about the T4R discount, but did get the free shipping. For less than $500 to my door, I'm good with that. I kept going back and forth between the true sliders and the SSO style but decided to go SSO since most of my driving is on pavement with occasional off-road adventures. Haven't given the painting much thought but that will be a tuff area to get to, I've got a paint gun and although I'm not good at painting maybe it will help make the job easier and I can get enough coverage to keep things from rusting.
It's easy for me to get caught up with all the mods, lifts, gearing, lockers on both axles, dual batteries, big aggressive tires, water and fuel storage, jacks, shovels, winch, on- board air compressor with tank and on and on, which gives you a great off road vehicle but no good if you have to drive it on road to get off-road, have already learned that lesson.
So I'm trying to keep this build moderate, for crusing and camping and if the SSO provide both protection and function as a step as you mentioned, I'll be happy. Again thanks.

I would like to thank HerT4R for all of her efforts. Like many others I am also looking for affordable, quality and genuinely available sliders. After reading about the quality of MT sliders I was surprised to see several concerning comments about gussets. I contacted MT and requested several photos as well as questions about weight and gussets. Unfortunately this is all I received:
"The sliders mount to the frame of the truck. Some slider use a single gusset on the rear driver side for stability and extra strength. Some use a gusset on each leg.
There is no welding. Everything is bolt on. Most 4 runner sliders weigh 58, SR5s and LTD weigh 65 each side.

John also provided the install sheet. It does appear that the gussets were added to address rotational forces rather than shear. My hope is that they would address if gussets are only on the MT sliders or if these are on all 5th gen (OPOR) sliders. Would love it if someone would post some pics of MT and OPOR on a 5th gen SR5. Both frame and step. Thanks everyone for creating such a great forum.

My gut says if you are questioning them now, you will not stop questioning them. Why not go with a different brand thats beefier?

They arrived today. I'm very impressed with the attention to detail and the amount thought that went into the design. They are incredibly stout. They were my third choice when I first started looking but I'm glad they ended up being the ones that I purchased. Awesome value too at $499 delivered. SSO emailed me several times to keep me in the loop regarding production & I appreciate that. I'll follow up with more photos once I do the prep, paint and install.
This is how they come off the truck. Fasteners are bagged within the wrapping. Poor skinny FedEx guy could't lift them, I had to get them off the truck for him.
