Continuous WIFI drop

For some reason every few days my WIFI stops working. My wife is using her phone, and it is not connected to the 4Runner WIFI because I have to go back in and press the Yes button to turn it back on.
This should not be happening, as it was fiine the first several months of driving.
Is there anyone else having this same problem? My wife was looking it up on google, and it was a big deal in that it is happening a lot to a lot of other folks.
I have any appointment to take it in to have the system checked, but like some other stuff, I am sure they will not have an answer. I may cancel, as the Toyota dealer service is rather low on my list of good quality..........

In our other Toyota, the Wi Fi drops off when it loses signal going through mountains. It does not reconnect automatically. I have to slow to turn it back on.

Sometimes it stays on between starts and other times it does not. I have to remember to check it after a start.

On a recent trip I gave up and used a portable hot spot that usually lives in my old 2013 4Runner. It always reconnects.

This is the case with my 2021 Nightshade. Initially thought it turns off each time, but sometimes stays on across several restarts, days apart. So it’s not start-cycle related.

I came to the same conclusion that it must be signal-related (so phones don’t keep connecting to wifi that doesn’t work). Sucks it doesn’t automatically turn back on when signal returns.

I suppose the decision was made, would Toyota rather:

1.) Auto on, manual off - Owners have to disable WiFi in motion to quiet whiny kids because the hotspot doesn’t have any signal and their phones won’t work, or

2.) Auto off, manual on - Owners check if hotspot is active at the beginning of a trip from the safety of their own driveway

I know it is a false dichotomy and with a little more time, Toyota could have gotten this one right, but sometimes (oftentimes) engineers get tunnel vision and roll out a system without basic convenience measures, and make absolutely no attempts at gathering user feedback.

With my wife's 2021, it is a total crap shoot as to whether or not the WiFi will automatically turn on with the vehicle. Been that way since we purchased it earlier in the year. There has been no pattern or discernible cause as to why the WiFi turns on automatically or has to be done manually.
