New member here. I have a 2004 Toyota 4Runner. Are the control buttons for the heat/ac system supposed to be lite up at night so you can see what the fan is running at and where the ac/heat is set to ? Mine only lights up if the fan is turned on and the other 2 controls only light up what it is currently set to. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, the bulbs are probably burned out. You can get new bulbs at Radio Shack for $2 for 2 and just put them in. You have to remove one screw at the bottom of the switch panel then pull it out to get access to the plastic holders containing the bulbs.

So when the lights are turned on at night, I should see everything lit up on all 3 controls ?

Yep, well they don't light up much, just the lettering and it's rather dim. Do you have the dash lights up enough to see them? If they don't light up at all the bulbs you need are part no. 272-1092.

my center knob shows light only on the AC and Auto at the ends, not backlit behind the letters like the other two. Thats normal or no?

That's not normal.

It is a fairly simple DIY job. When taking apart the center stack, one of the climate bulbs always blows out from manipulating. Buy an extra bulb to be safe (I think you will need 3).

None of mine light up like the picture above shows. The only thing that comes on is whatever position you have the ac or heat at, the a/c button and the fan number that you are running. The rear window and air circuilation do not light up unless you depess the button. Is there a fuse for all of these or do I need to but 5 bulbs ?

You need 3 mini bulbs for the three round controls and 2 slightly bigger ones for the LCD panel if it's out too.
