Convert CA exhaust to 49 States? Convert 2 Cats to 1?

Anyone know if the one cat pipe drops in place of two?

My 4rnr was originally delivered in NJ and apparently spent its whole life in NJ, but has a CA exhaust.

I'm looking at a P0420 code and would like to know about this option as I'm sorting my decision tree (problem definition). Just got this 4rnr (had a 1987 b4), and it runs a wee bit rough (very small run-on with key off, once). Many things to start looking into.

Won't work. Computer is coded for CA emissions. Had the same issue on my 99, it was a PA vehicle it's whole life but had CA Emissions. Sucks but you have to stick with it.
