Convincing the boss I need a lift kit

I have just moved from Florida to northern Maine in my 4runner I bought just a few weeks before moving. I have been really wanting to lift the truck but I am looking for reasons I "need" it to tell the boss (wife) that a lift is worth it...

Better performance for off-roading, trails, etc., & it looks better, although stock isn't necessarily bad either. I'm sure others can find more reasons, I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff so I just gave my personal reasons that made me get mine! Good luck man, hope you get approval from the boss! If you want something inexpensive go with bilstein 5100, FJ 4wd springs and rear 1.5 daystar coil spring spacers.

Also, better ask for forgiveness than permission. I know from experience...lol

Do you really need a lift for the terrain you encounter? If you cruise around on muddy log roads and whatnot a locker would be much more helpful than a lift....and the boss wouldn't even know about it by looking at the truck

It will be "safer" for her to drive

"Honey" the weather heres nothing like it was in in Florida and i wanna make sure both or us are safe traveling in it..or something along those lines..

"I believe my suspension is wearing out, and it's become quite a safety hazard for both of us. I think it would be best for me to update the suspension so that I can have piece of mind driving both of us through Maine, where weather conditions are worse than Florida. What do you think?"

1) Everytime a paycheck gets deposited just pull like $100 out at the same time. Then after a handful of months you'll have your lift money, in cash, and she won't know the difference. You just buy the sh!t and tell her you've been saving on your own for it. Nobody suffers.

2) not sure how old you are, but you could pull a mid-life/quarter-life crisis thing and get some pity rolling. Sort of devious but life's short.

3) distract her by getting her something she wants that's of similar cost. And make it known that the next purchase is for you.

4) (and I mean this WITH ALL DUE RESPECT) go thru her purse... And no not for money or credit cards, but to retrieve the fleshy pouch that may have once been a testicular sack. You don't have a right to enjoy life too? Like women don't spend money on useless stuff. I'm all about female empowerment and equality, but equal is equal. And woman having more control based on weaponized vaginas is NOT equal and is a trend I just cannot accept,

5) make it a masculine thing. "Oh Johnny at work says my truck makes my d!ck look small" or whatever. Make it a macho reason.

Jesus man I can't NOT think of ways haha.

Good luck and keep us posted.

A lift should not be something she would be concerned about. That is, if your financial situation is squared away. Here's a checklist: 1. Are you out of debt aside from your house? 2. Do you have 3-6 months savings socked away for emergencies? 3. Are you investing 15% of your household income for retirement?

If you can't answer yes to all three questions. You don't need a lift. And I know you don't need a lift because you are afraid to ask your wife for one. Which is a dead give away that you likely can't answer yes to any of my questions.

Look. Toys are fun. But understand you have finite days on this earth and every locker and bumper you buy put you that much farther in bondage to those you owe. Instead of buying a lift right now. Set a budget with your wife. Get yur finances in order. And be able to answer yes to those three questions. Once you can say yes to that, she won't give a flying fart what you spend your money on.

I used the "Safety" reason a few times. Only use this reason sparingly. Larger tires allow more sidewall for cushioning effect on rough roads. Larger tires allow the vehicle to glide over smaller obstacles. Larger tires allow lower air pressure when Offroad to increase the tire to obstacle contact patch. The resulting increased traction lowers the possibility of tire spin.

If you have been married over ten years be honest. She already see's through you.

Dave Ramsey, is that you??? :hatsoff:

Single here so not the same situation, but since I still go home to do work on my car(s) with my Dad, I usually have to end up explaining why I'm spending money on car mods to my Mom.

She gave me the best excuse for a lift the first time she saw the 4runner after I got it. She's 6', my Dad is 6'4", and I'm 6'6", and she asked me "is this a little low for you?"

So now I'll get to say that I'm getting a lift because "it's too low" without that being a sarcastic answer.
